Strategies for maintaining a Healthy Back in the workplace
30 novembre 2024Last night, we had the privilege of hosting Michiel Brandt, PhD student, who delivered an engaging and insightful presentation on low back pain—a global health care problem that can have a substantial impact on daily life functioning. Michiel illuminated the association between sedentary behaviors such as prolonged inactivity (e.g., lounging on the couch) or lack of movement (e.g., sitting at a desk for hours at work) and low back pain. He also emphasized the role of regular exercise and posture variation in promoting a healthier back.
As members of team2lead, we had the unique opportunity to participate in a hands-on session right in the office. Michiel guided us through a series of accessible exercises that could easily be performed in the workplace while sitting at a desk, standing, or even lying down. In less than 30 minutes, we felt re-energized and more relaxed.
The session was a powerful reminder that even small, consistent changes in our daily routines can lead to important improvements in our health. It not only underscored the importance of staying active but also equipped us with easy-to-follow and workplace-friendly exercises to incorporate into our lives.
